Date and Raw Cocoa Truffles

These are great little snacks to keep on hand for after school or a quick pick-me-up during the day or just to satisfy a sweet tooth. Now mind you, dates contain a lot of  natural sugar, but they also contain several vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They  are not an empty sugar rush.Raw cocoa is full of anti-oxidants, so indulge in moderation and enjoy.

These are inspired from Deliciously Ella's blog. If you haven't already done so, check out her site. She is an inspriation for all. I added banana to mine and left out the almond butter. The great thing about these truffles is their versatility. You could try with orange zest for a zing, nut butters, butter instead of coconut oil. You can roll them in chopped peanuts. The flavours are endless So have fun and get creative.

 

 

Ingredients

 

175 g  of dates,pitted

1 tbsp coconut oil

1/2 a small banana, pretty ripe 

 

1 heaping tbsp raw cocoa powder

1 tbsp chia seeds

75 g  almond flour

 

 30 grams dessicated coconut, and  1 tbsp raw cocoa powder for coating

 

makes 12 

 

Place the dates in a food processor and pulse a few times, add the oil and bananas to the bowl and pulse. Add the rest of the ingredients. Once pureed, roll into the coconut flakes and cocoa powder.. Store in fridge for a few days.
